Ladies & Gents, meet the Proofreader/Copy Editor for the Harry Potter Books

This really has nothing to do with the topic at hand, except that....both make me smile? Sure, let's go with that. Oh, and he's hottie hot hot.

Harry Potter was, without a doubt, the biggest publishing phenomenon of the 2000s. (I’m just going to pretend the Twilight thing never happened).  Imagine being a staffer at Bloomsbury UK, then at Scholastic in the US and Raincoast in Canada, watching as Harry, Ron & Hermione become increasingly popular by the day. *SIGH*  YA publishers are still trying to find “the next Harry.” Now, as we get ready to close another door on JK Rowling’s amazing blockbuster wizarding world with the final installment of the equally-successful movie franchise, here is an article about a woman named Susan Jeffers who lives in Riverton, Illinois…..and was proofreader for books 1-3 and copy editor for books 5-7.

WOW. I could never imagine having to be so secretive about such a fantastically amazing series. I think there’s definitely a longer article in this, going into details about keeping Harry a secret, and the enormous pressure on not just Jeffers but everyone involved in the publication of these books. I DID get a copy of the book Harry: A History by Melissa Anelli a few years ago for Christmas. I haven’t read it yet, but there’s probably lots of info in there!
