I embarassingly left this in the blog’s drafts folder only to be left until today, when I felt shame and betrayal for failing to celebrate my favorite game of the last several years. It’s modest, it’s powerful, utterly magical. The design is amazingly intelligent despite it’s faux-retro graphics; in fact I would argue that this undermines a players occasional tendency to get distracted from the emotion of the story – and believe me, by the end you truly feel it. The whole point of this post wasn’t just to celebrate the anniversary of this game, but to also point out this wonderful oral history article that Verge.com wrote on the game. Watch a trailer for the game below, and follow the link underneath it to the article.
